Last Friday, at an audition (at which I'm pretty sure I didn't get the part, but that's life), I happened to run into the actor who had played the lead role in the eBay commercial I was in...uh, way back in May. Anyway, I asked him if he had heard anything about when the commercial was supposed to be up, and he said he'd already been sent a link to it, which he'd be willing to forward to me.

I'm not going to post the link, because I don't know that it's meant to be shown just yet; it's in an obscure URL at some reel site and I get the impression it's there so the client (i.e. eBay) can have access to it but it's not yet meant for public viewing. Still...huh. It's a little different from what I expected. Not all that much, just a little. During the fantasy sequence, my voice is dubbed over--though it's nothing personal, apparently; other actors have dubbed voices too. And I gather the dubbing is supposed to be obvious, to fit the surreal nature of the sequence. (They didn't dub over me saying "Hey" at the beginning, though, so I do get one word in.) I kinda feel bad for the actress who was supposed to play the winning bidder at the end, though (and who stuck around the set for eight hours before shooting her one brief scene)--apparently they changed the ending slightly, so she now doesn't appear in the commercial at all.

Ah, well. Still, this is the first thing I've acted in that I've actually seen. (That corporate promotional video I was in I've still not seen hide nor hair of.) It's not something, alas, I can really use for my reel--my appearances are too brief (and too dubbed) for that--but I guess it's good to finally see it.
